Cheers to the latest Art-o-Mat Crafternoon collection: Seasonal Earrings!

These little pieces of wearable art celebrate some of my favorite moments of the year, from the first hints of fall and Halloween all the way through football season and the sparkle of Christmas.

Creating for Art-o-Mat is the challenge of working small. Every piece must fit within Art-o-Mat's format, but it still needs enough personality to make that little ka-chunk moment feel special.

The Crafternoon Earring collection starts with faux leather. It is lightweight enough to make comfortable earrings, but it also gives me endless possibilities for shapes, colors, layers and embellishments.

Each design begins as a simple idea, then gets cut, layered, decorated and finished with jewelry findings. Some get a little sparkle, because apparently, I am incapable of leaving rhinestones alone when they are sitting nearby.

A Little Spooky Season for the Ears Anyone?

Naturally, Halloween had to join the collection.

The Halloween designs might be some of the most fun I've made. There are cheerful little ghosts, mysterious black cats with glowing orange eyes, whimsical witch hats and colorful sugar skulls.

They aren't terribly scary. They're more pumpkin patch, old haunted house and a bowl of candy on the porch spooky.

And because they are earrings, they are an easy way to add a little Halloween personality without wearing a full costume. Pair them with a black sweater, denim jacket or your favorite fall outfit and suddenly you're dressed for the season.

Game Day Gets Its Own Pair

Football season deserves its own kind of jewelry.

The football earrings are simple, playful and made for those Saturdays and Sundays when your outfit needs to announce that you're ready for kickoff.

They're also one of those Art-o-mat surprises I think would make a fun little gift.

And Then Christmas Arrives…

Once Halloween passes and the twinkle lights begin appearing, the collection changes right along with the season.

Christmas trees, stockings, gingerbread people and other holiday-inspired designs bring more wearable cheer to the Art-o-mat lineup.

The kind you can wear to a holiday party, Christmas market, cookie exchange, classroom celebration or simply because it's Tuesday in December and Tuesday deserves Christmas earrings too.

Every pair passes through my hands multiple times before it's finished. There are tiny imperfections, variations and details that are simply part of making things by hand.

I don't want the earrings to feel like something mass-produced that simply happens to fit inside an Art-o-mat box. I want each pair to feel like what Art-o-mat has always celebrated: original art made by human hands.

No two pairs have quite the same personality.

The Magic of the Art-o-mat Experience truly is something beautifully old-fashioned.

You don't scroll through hundreds of choices.

You don't read fifty reviews.

You don't add something to a digital cart and wait two days for a cardboard box to appear.

You walk up to this extraordinary, repurposed machine, choose an artist or collection, pull the knob and…

ka-chunk.

A tiny piece of art drops into your hands.

And this time, you just might open that little box and discover something you can put on your ears.
